Robust Stability Analysis for Uncertain Switched Discrete-Time Systems

    Get PDF
This paper is concerned with the robust stability for a class of switched discrete-time systems with state parameter uncertainty. Firstly, a new matrix inequality considering uncertainties is introduced and proved. By means of it, a novel sufficient condition for robust stability of a class of uncertain switched discrete-time systems is presented. Furthermore, based on the result obtained, the switching law is designed and has been performed well, and some sufficient conditions of robust stability have been derived for the uncertain switched discrete-time systems using the Lyapunov stability theorem, block matrix method and inequality technology. Finally, some examples are exploited to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes

New Approach to Observer-Based Finite-Time H∞ Control of Discrete-Time One-Sided Lipschitz Systems with Uncertainties

This paper investigates the finite-time H∞ control problem for a class of nonlinear discrete-time one-sided Lipschitz systems with uncertainties. Using the one-sided Lipschitz and quadratically inner-bounded conditions, the authors derive less conservative criterion for the controller design and observer design. A new criterion is proposed to ensure the closedloop system is finite-time bounded (FTB). The sufficient conditions are established to ensure the closed-loop system is H∞ finite-time bounded (H∞ FTB) in terms of matrix inequalities. The controller gains and observer gains are given. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results

Functional observers design for nonlinear discrete-time systems with interval time-varying delays

summary:This paper is concerned with the functional observer design for a class of Multi-Input Multi-Output discrete-time systems with mixed time-varying delays. Firstly, using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach, we design the parameters of the delay-dependent observer. We establish the sufficient conditions to guarantee the exponential stability of functional observer error system. In addition, for design purposes, delay-dependent sufficient conditions are proposed in terms of matrix inequalities to guarantee that the functional observer error system is exponentially stable. Secondly, we presented the sufficient conditions of the existence of internal-delay independent functional observer to ensure the estimated error system is asymptotically stable. Furthermore, some sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee that the internal-delay independent functional observer error system is exponentially stable. Finally, simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

Self-tuning vibration absorber and the effect of its installation position on damping characteristics

    Get PDF
A kind of self-tuning vibration absorber is presented. The relationship between the installation position and the vibration damping effect of the self-tuning vibration absorber is established, the influence on the damping effect is discussed. Then, on the vibration test bed, the theoretical analysis results are tested and verified. The results show that, installation position of the self-tuning vibration absorber has a significant influence on its vibration damping effect. When installed near the source location, the self-tuning vibration absorber has a better vibration damping effect. It is should be avoided in the area of vibration deterioration

Kinship can hinder cooperation in heterogeneous populations

Kin selection and direct reciprocity are two most basic mechanisms for promoting cooperation in human society. Generalizing the standard models of the multi-player Prisoner's Dilemma and the Public Goods games for heterogeneous populations, we study the effects of genetic relatedness on cooperation in the context of repeated interactions. Two sets of interrelated results are established: a set of analytical results focusing on the subgame perfect equilibrium and a set of agent-based simulation results based on an evolutionary game model. We show that in both cases increasing genetic relatedness does not always facilitate cooperation. Specifically, kinship can hinder the effectiveness of reciprocity in two ways. First, the condition for sustaining cooperation through direct reciprocity is harder to satisfy when relatedness increases in an intermediate range. Second, full cooperation is impossible to sustain for a medium-high range of relatedness values. Moreover, individuals with low cost-benefit ratios can end up with lower payoffs than their groupmates with high cost-benefit ratios. Our results point to the importance of explicitly accounting for within-population heterogeneity when studying the evolution of cooperation

Stability analysis and observer design for one-sided Lipschitz descriptor systems with time-varying delay

This paper investigates the problem of stability analysis and observer design for nonlinear descriptor systems with time-varying delay. In the systems, the nonlinear function satisfies the one-sided Lipschitz condition and the quadratic internal boundary condition. The disturbance is considered in both the state and the output equation. Using one-sided Lipschitz condition, the quadratic internal boundary condition, and the generalized Lyapunov method, we establish the non-strict bilinear matrix inequality (BMI)-based condition. We change the condition into strict bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) condition. Furthermore, we give the linear matrix inequality-based condition to ensure the gradual convergence of state estimation error and to accomplish robustness against   L2  norm bounded disturbances by utilizing change of variables for straight forward computation of the observer gain matrix. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the effectiveness of the observer design scheme
